91304 - Mater Mothers Hospital GP Maternity Shared Care Realignment Program Online
- : Online
The online realignment program has been developed to provide GP’s with a flexible means to maintain alignment with MMH. The successful completion of this online re-alignment program with the associated exam and the bridging program will provide specific information to MMH and will enable you to continue to share maternity care with MMH.Relevance to General Practice
Most women present to their GP for a referral in pregnancy, regardless of whether or not they will be a private or public patient. It is essential that GPs are familiar with cutting edge evidence-based care of pregnant women as typically women won’t see a specialist service until the 12-14 week mark and in some cases, are not seen until after 20 weeks. As there are a number of clinical conditions such as diabetes and thyroid disease which impact particularly in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as well as some investigations such as the Nuchal Translucency Scan which can only be done up to 13 + 6 weeks gestation, GPs need to be aware of current best practice. The programs seek to update GPs about investigations, communication pathways, medication and recommendations for care of the common presentations and the not so common, but important presentations. This will allow GPs to educate themselves online as this is more convenient.
