In Tasmania dental infections contribute a significant burden to emergency department presentations. Encouraging and facilitating patients to seek timely and appropriate primary care from dentists can help lower the burden on our hospitals. The accessibility of pharmacists means they are well placed in the community to help patients with preventative basic oral health advice, triage and referral to a dentist when needed.

Learning Objectives

  • This inter-professional learning session will cover:

    • When to refer to a dentist for dental treatment (Dentist)
