AANZGOSA & AANZHPBA General Surgery SET Workshops
The AANZGOSA & AANZHPBA General Surgery SET Workshops are a series of online training sessions tailored for senior General Surgery SET trainees preparing for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) Fellowship Exam. Scheduled between 9–26 February 2026, the workshops are delivered virtually, making them accessible to trainees across Australia and New Zealand.
Organized by the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA) and the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AANZHPBA), the sessions are designed to augment individual study programs by providing structured, expert-led reviews of essential surgical content. Each workshop runs for approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours, with a total of four evening sessions—two hosted by AANZGOSA and two by AANZHPBA.
The workshops are presented by experienced clinicians and surgical educators, ensuring that trainees receive authoritative guidance on complex topics. The format emphasizes interactive learning, case-based discussions, and exam-focused preparation. Importantly, the sessions are recorded, allowing registered participants to revisit the material for a limited time after the event. Additionally, registrants gain access to previous years’ recordings, providing a valuable resource for comprehensive exam preparation.
The cost of the program is AUD $100 (including GST), covering all four sessions. This affordable pricing reflects the commitment of AANZGOSA and AANZHPBA to supporting surgical education and professional development.
By attending, trainees will strengthen their knowledge base, refine exam strategies, and gain confidence in tackling the RACS Fellowship Exam. The workshops also foster a sense of community among surgical trainees, offering opportunities to engage with peers and mentors in a supportive environment.
Ultimately, the General Surgery SET Workshops are more than a study aid—they are a structured, collaborative, and expertly delivered program that plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of surgeons for fellowship and clinical excellence.
