This review provides a clinically focused, evidence-based approach to the medical and surgical management of two of the most common causes of menstrual disturbance: primary endometrial dysfunction and leiomyomas (fibroids).

Postmenopausal bleeding and the management of malignancy are beyond the scope of this article.

  • Be informed that abnormal uterine bleeding is a common condition in premenopausal women and know that there are several effective medical and surgical treatment options
