Medication related causes of postural hypotension include:

  • Vasodilators
    • Nitrates (e.g. isosorbide mononitrate)
    • Adrenoceptor blockers (especially α-adrenoceptor blockers such as doxazosin)
  • Beta blockers (e.g. atenolol, propranolol)
  • Diuretics (e.g. bendrofluazide, frusemide)
  • Tranquilisers/hypnotics (e.g. haloperidol)
  • Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline)
