Uncompensated Vestibular Disorders
Session Overview
Description
This session gives an overview of uncompensated vestibular disorders.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Define an uncompensated vestibular disorder
  • List factors predisposing to poor vestibular compensation
  • Recall the typical presentation of an uncompensated vestibular disorder
  • Outline the management of uncompensated vestibular disorders

This session aims to introduce you to the concept of uncompensated vestibular disorders.

You will probably not understand this term yet, but it is probable that you have encountered dizzy patients with uncompensated vestibular disorders without even realising what the diagnosis was.

The definitions, aetiology, presentation and treatment of uncompensated vestibular disorders will be covered in this session. However, before this, it is worthwhile revisiting the concept of vertigo, as most uncompensated vestibular disorders begin after an acute attack(s) of vertigo.
