Adult Emergency Workshop

Interactive workshop incorporating lectures and medical simulation to reinforce learnings on the following topics, adult trauma in the acute phase, emergency care of bites & stings (envenomation and anaphylaxis), Mental Health Act as it relates to high risk presentations with case based analysis & life threatening complications from street drugs and intravenous drug use.

Attendees will be required to complete pre reading and predisposing activity on the following topics: Adult Trauma IV Drug addiction
Reinforcing activity will consist of: • Review your procedures for managing trauma. • Review your emergency equipment and medication available if a trauma patient were to present. • Review the available guidelines.
You will be able to discuss your approach to the adult trauma patient as it applies to your clinical setting.
Review or implement a system to assess patients presenting with mental health needs.
Describe your decision making in the management of patient with a recreational drug related health problem.
Identify a structured approach for the examination of patients with a bite or sting.
Attendees will be required to complete pre-reading and a predisposing activity on key elements of the workshop. On completion of the workshop you will be required to complete a reinforcing activity in order to obtain your CPD points and certificate.
