Adult preventive care: Applying the RACGP Red book every day

This activity aims to guide GPs through the concepts of population screening, types of screening tests, how to identify individuals at risk of common preventable conditions, how to identify and utilise appropriate screening tools and how to provide opportunistic advice on healthy lifestyles and health interventions.

Relevance to General Practice

GPs play a pivotal role in providing preventive care. Detecting the presence of disease early can avoid its progression. GPs must utilise every opportunity to address disease prevention, early detection of disease and the promotion and maintenance of patient health.
