Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Clinical Immersion
This advanced clinical immersion program is specifically designed for colorectal surgeons, fellows, and general surgeons with a strong interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery. The course provides a rare opportunity to engage in a highly interactive, small-group learning environment led by an expert faculty team from three major Brisbane hospitals. Participants will gain exposure to 5–9 live laparoscopic colorectal surgery cases, allowing them to observe surgical techniques in real time, analyze intraoperative decision-making, and discuss potential pitfalls with experienced mentors.
In addition to live case observation, attendees will participate in a didactic course dinner, which fosters deeper discussion and focused teaching in a collegial setting. This format encourages open dialogue, peer-to-peer learning, and the exchange of innovative approaches to complex surgical challenges.
The program emphasizes practical skill development, critical thinking, and the integration of new technologies into clinical practice. By combining live surgical immersion with structured teaching sessions, the course ensures participants leave with enhanced confidence in laparoscopic colorectal procedures, improved awareness of complication management, and a broader understanding of evolving surgical innovations.
Facilitators include Prof David Clarke, Prof Andrew Stevenson, Dr Damien Petersen, Dr Craig Harris, and Dr Jayson Moloney, all recognized leaders in colorectal surgery. Their collective expertise ensures a comprehensive educational experience that blends technical mastery with clinical insight.
This event is classified as a restricted healthcare professional education program, meaning it is tailored exclusively for qualified medical practitioners. Registration is managed through Medtronic representatives, reinforcing its specialized and professional focus. Overall, the Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Clinical Immersion offers a unique opportunity to refine surgical skills, expand professional networks, and stay at the forefront of colorectal surgical practice.
