Advanced Life Support 2

Advanced Life Support 2 course accredited by the Australian Resuscitation Council that equips medical personnel with the skills and confidence to approach the unwell patient. The course is made up of both lectures and activity stations and is run in small groups of 6 candidates.

The areas covered are:

  • Causes and prevention of cardiac arrest
  • Diagnosing and managing the obstructed airway
  • Assessing the unwell patient using the A to E approach
  • Safe and prompt defibrillator use
  • Pacing and cardioversion workshops
  • Arrest in special circumstances

  • How to be an effective team member in a cardiac arrest

Junior doctors must have completed ALS1 first before attending this course
Senior doctors with ICU or ED experience should check with Erin erin.matheson(at)svha.org.au if they are able to do the course without completing ALS1
