Description
This session describes the role of venous oxygen saturations when assessing the adequacy of tissue oxygenation in critically-ill patients, interpretation of the values in different clinical scenarios and how these values affect the choice of a management strategy.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Measure venous oxygen saturations
  • Interpret the results of blood gas analysis
  • Instigate appropriate therapy based on interpretation of the blood gas
  • Recognize when further clinical investigations are required
