Chronic cough is a common and distressing symptom among older people living in the community and in residential aged care. Pharmacists conducting comprehensive medication reviews have an opportunity to identify unexplained chronic cough, identify potential causes and suggest management options.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  • identify chronic persistent cough;
  • identify potential causes of chronic cough;
  • recommend appropriate treatment of chronic cough.
