- : Broken Hill NSW 2880
New treatments for hepatitis C offering cure rates greater than 90%, shorter duration of therapy and reduced toxicity are available on the PBS from 1 March 2016.
General Practitioners are able to prescribe these new treatments, helping their patients to achieve cure in 2016. This update will provide GPs with the knowledge to engage their patients in care, perform investigations to assess for advanced liver disease and prescribe new hepatitis C treatments in consultation with a specialist.
Primary care practitioners in Far West NSW can help to improve the health outcomes of people living with hepatitis C and reduce a patient’s risk of developing advanced liver disease through early diagnosis, thorough evaluation and assessment of liver disease severity, appropriate management of co-morbidities and treatment with newly available drug regimens.
