This module aims to help all HCPs to systematically identify smokers, assess their readiness to quit and nicotine dependence, and offer them advice on smoking cessation support. In addition, this module looks at the efficacy and safety of nicotine-replacement therapy (NRT), and provides a suite of resources for supporting patients through their quitting journey.
By completing this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Assess smoking status in your patients and offer smoking cessation support as outlined in RACGP Guidelines.
- Discuss the efficacy and safety of nicotine-replacement therapy (NRT) for smoking cessation and for pre-cessation/reduction to quit.
- Evaluate appropriate NRT formulations for patients and how to prescribe them.
- Access and use tools and resources for supporting smoking cessation in your patients.
