Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the more common causes of secondary hypertension
  • Identify how to investigate the younger patient with unexplained hypertension and interpret these investigations
  • Recognise when referral for further investigations might be necessary

This session will cover some of the more common endocrine causes of secondary hypertension, including the appropriate investigations and referrals needed for patients.

Although endocrine causes of secondary hypertension are uncommon, it is very important that they are recognised promptly in primary care so the appropriate investigations and management can be implemented.
