Nurses not only provide, but also explain healthcare. To help patients, families and communities embrace, trust and utilise digital health components, nurses need to be involved in the coordination and application of new modalities.
Nurses working in the community are faced with new challenges and opportunities amidst the emergence of new digital technologies and capabilities that allow care to be provided via new modalities, in diverse locations.
Amongst the issues for nurses in the community to consider as the role of the nurse evolves are:

  • Expectations of patients and the community amidst increased digital literacy and access to health information
  • Telehealth
  • Use of technologies enabling new possibilities for care outside traditional healthcare facilities
  • apabilities to support the integration of digital health records into community nursing practice
