Disable Water Skiing
The Disable Water Skiing program, promoted through Amputees NSW, is an inclusive recreational initiative designed to introduce people with physical disabilities or vision impairments to the excitement and freedom of adaptive water skiing. According to the event page, the program is delivered by the NSW Water Ski Federation – Disabled Division, an organisation dedicated to ensuring that individuals of all abilities can participate in water sports safely and confidently. The event spans multiple dates from 25 October 2025 to 18 April 2026, offering numerous opportunities for participants to join at various locations across New South Wales and the ACT, including the Hawkesbury River, Tweed River, Molonglo River, and Manly Dam.
Each ski day is structured to accommodate first‑time skiers as well as returning participants. The cost for newcomers is $50, which includes the use of two skis and membership, making the program accessible and affordable. The sessions are open to anyone with a physical disability or vision impairment, and the organisers emphasise a welcoming, supportive environment where participants can learn at their own pace. Trained volunteers and adaptive equipment ensure that safety and comfort are prioritised throughout the experience.
The event page lists a detailed schedule of ski days, allowing participants to choose the date and location that best suits them. Whether on the scenic Hawkesbury River or the calm waters of Manly Dam, each venue provides a unique backdrop for an empowering outdoor experience. The program encourages individuals to challenge themselves, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of water skiing in a fully supported setting.
Contact details for the organiser, Sharon Paterson, are provided for enquiries, and the page notes that this is not an Amputees NSW‑organised event, but one they proudly promote to their community. Overall, the program offers a meaningful opportunity for people with disabilities to engage in adaptive sport, connect with others, and enjoy an active lifestyle.
