Healthy living for patients over 65

This education explores the changing health requirements for patients over 65 years of age, and provides an overview of the strategies for minimising muscle loss through exercise and diet.

On completion of this education activity participants will be able to:

  • Describe risks associated with muscle loss in older patients.
  • Outline strategies for optimising muscle health over 65 years of age.
  • Identify changing nutritional needs after 65 years of age.
  • Be aware of the importance of interdisciplinary care in patients over 65 years of age, including the role of dietitians and exercise physiologists.

This activity was developed with an educational grant from Meat & Livestock Australia. The Active Ageing Expert Working Group established by Meat & Livestock Australia has developed patient information on nutrition and exercise tips for healthy living after 65 years. Download the fact sheet.
