Hepatitis C – Effective Treatment for Everyone, Everywhere

  • : Darlinghurst NSW 2010

This innovative, cutting-edge meeting aims to explore optimal models for delivering care to people from diverse backgrounds and settings, including Indigenous Australians, people who inject drugs people on opioid substitution programs, people from culturally and linguistically diverse populations, people who are incarcerated, young people, people living with HIV-HCV co-infection, homeless and itinerant people, and people living in rural and remote areas.

Through presentations and workshops, expected outcomes include the development of models and
systems needed to provide hepatitis C treatment for everyone.

Why Attend?
The development of highly-effective, well-tolerated, oral direct-acting antivirals for hepatitis C virus infection is one of the major advances this decade. Australia’s universal funding for these drugs is a world first and
represents an extraordinary opportunity to save lives, improve quality of life, prevent transmission and eventually to eliminate hepatitis C virus in Australasia.

However, unless models of care can be developed to enable people with hepatitis C from diverse backgrounds to access and complete treatment safely, this opportunity will be lost and hepatitis C will continue to drive disease, stigma and death.

Marginalised populations suffer a gap in the delivery of care, and there is a significant risk that this will occur with hepatitis C virus treatment as well.

This meeting is a great opportunity to develop your network, share ideas and experience, and plan future community HCV interventions. Let’s make sure we enable effective treatment for everyone, everywhere.

All delegates including clinicians, public health, community and primary care representatives, government and people living with hepatitis C from diverse backgrounds.
