IBD Workshop 1 - The GP's role in early detection of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
IBD for GPs and Physicians Workshop series – IBD Workshop 1
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect more than 180,000 Australians and require ongoing, coordinated care. General practitioners are essential to effective, multidisciplinary management of these chronic conditions, but many report limited training and confidence in this area.
Join us for the first live, interactive workshop in IBD for GPs and Physicians series, developed in line with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease National Action Plan 2019 to build GP capability in diagnosing and managing IBD.
What to Expect
This online workshop will deepen your understanding of:
- Early signs and symptoms of IBD and the importance of timely detection
- Distinguishing Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) in clinical practice
- Differentiating IBD from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Diagnostic investigations GPs can initiate to support specialist referral
Led by a multidisciplinary panel of GPs, gastroenterologists, and educators, the session features case-based learning, peer discussion, and practical tools aligned with national clinical guidelines.
Before You Join
We encourage you to complete the corresponding self-directed module on the IBD for GPs and Physicians platform to make the most of this workshop.
This workshop is brought to you by Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA), in partnership with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).
The IBD GP Aware Project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.
