Introduction and Overview course for GPs

The RCGP curriculum describes in detail the learning which is required in order to reach the standard to work as a General Practitioner in the modern NHS. This module will provide information on the core statement and help you understand what this means and how it relates to the day-to-day management of patients in practice. This session was reviewed by Suchita Shah and last updated in October 2014.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Describe the systematic and dynamic framework for learning provided by the RCGP curriculum
• Apply the framework using domains and essential features to a case study for patient care
• Recognise the origins of the RCGP curriculum and how it was derived and constructed

The word ‘core’ is used to indicate the key importance of this statement and the fact that all the remaining statements are constructed using the same systematic framework.
