In this second session and the first session 'Safeguarding/Looked After Children Part 1', we will explore the evidence for the statement that looked after children 'have a higher level of health, mental health and health promotion needs than others of the same age' and look at how the Healthy Child Programme can meet these needs.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the different types of public care experienced by children in the UK
  • Recognise different experiences of public care from four case studies
  • Identify and describe the known outcomes for looked after children
  • Analyse factors affecting the different outcomes

In this and session Safeguarding/Looked After Children Part 1, we explore the evidence for this statement and look at how the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) can meet these needs.
