The Master of Nursing at UniSQ is a postgraduate program designed to prepare nurses for leadership, advanced practice, and specialized roles in healthcare. Delivered fully online and part-time, the program offers flexibility for working professionals to balance study with career and personal commitments. Students can choose from a range of specialisations including Advanced Practice, Clinical Education, Gerontology, Leadership and Management in Health, and Rural and Remote Nursing. Each pathway equips graduates with targeted expertise to meet the evolving demands of healthcare systems.

The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, health research, and innovation in care delivery. Students develop advanced skills in reviewing data-driven research, implementing best practice care, and leading projects that improve patient and community health outcomes. Leadership development is a core focus, with graduates trained to manage nursing teams, drive innovation, and address contemporary challenges in healthcare environments.

The degree structure comprises 12 units: 7 core units and 5 specialization units. While there are no mandatory clinical requirements unless students select specific approved courses, the program ensures graduates are prepared for diverse roles across hospitals, aged care, community health, education, and research. Entry requires a bachelor’s degree in nursing and current professional registration as a Division 1 nurse (or equivalent). Applicants for the Rural and Remote specialisation must provide workplace confirmation of capacity for portfolio development.

Career outcomes include leadership positions in public and private healthcare, roles in advanced clinical practice, nursing education, and research. Graduates may also pursue doctoral-level study. UniSQ is highly rated for teaching quality, student support, and graduate starting salaries, offering a secure pathway for nurses seeking to advance their careers. With its flexible delivery, strong academic reputation, and focus on innovation, the Master of Nursing empowers nurses to lead change and contribute meaningfully to healthcare improvement.
