Mental health and well-being during COVID-19

  • : Online

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the way we live our lives, how we work and engage with each other. Psychologically, people are having to adapt to a ‘new normal' as we move through phases of Change, Reality and Recovery. This briefing session will provide an insight into the psychological and social impacts of the pandemic and what organisations and business owners can do to best support themselves and their people to adapt to these challenging circumstances. The Wellbeing Outfit was launched to provide specialist consultancy services in mental health and wellbeing. It was founded by Jono Nicholas, one of Australia's leading mental health experts, to help organisations improve business outcomes by developing resilient and high performing teams. They provide organisations with strategy direction, consulting support, be-spoke programs, workshops and executive coaching. Since launch the Wellbeing Outfit has worked with some of Australia's leading organisations including EY, KFC, Stockland Group and Anglo American Mining.

Jono Nicholas is the Founder and Managing Director of the Wellbeing Outfit. He is an Executive Consultant at EY, specialising in mental health, and is a Director of the Future Generation Global Investment Company. In 2018, Jono was a finalist for the Australian Mental Health Prize in which he was recognised for his more than 20 years of service to mental health and advocating for change in how technology and smartphones can (and will) transform the way mental health and wellbeing services are delivered. Prior to setting up the Wellbeing Outfit, Jono was the CEO of ReachOut Australia - Australia's leading digital mental health service for young people and their parents - from 2010 to 2018.

Kevin Clancy has a background in performance and sport psychology, and he has extensive experience of working in corporate, elite sport, clinical, community and voluntary environments in a varied career to date. In early 2020, Kevin began consulting with The Wellbeing Outfit. Prior to this, he had been head-hunted by EY for a specialist psychology role in their Sustainability team, with a brief to support culture change, leadership, mental health and wellbeing, and safety service offerings. Kevin has worked in Ireland, the UK, Kenya, USA, New Zealand, the Middle East and Australia. He is constantly striving for self-development and believes that life-learning is a necessity to succeed in today's fast paced world.
