Mental Health Drug Program – Online Nurse CPD Training
The Mental Health Drug Program – Online Nurse CPD Training is a specialized refresher course designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurses (ENs) who require continuing professional development (CPD) hours. This program provides 2 CPD hours and is delivered entirely online, making it flexible and accessible for busy healthcare professionals.
The course focuses on safe and effective drug administration within the mental health context. It uses clinical scenarios to challenge participants to recognize safe and unsafe practices, ensuring that learners can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. While drug dose calculation is included, the program emphasizes that accurate calculation is only one aspect of safe medication administration. Participants will review common formulae for drug calculations but will also explore broader factors that contribute to patient safety.
Key learning outcomes include:
-
Relating the five rights of drug administration to clinical examples.
-
Identifying common factors that lead to medication errors.
-
Recognizing unsafe drug administration practices and inappropriate or unclear orders.
-
Applying appropriate actions to minimize risks.
-
Calculating accurate drug dosages using standard formulae.
-
Reflecting on personal practices in drug administration.
This program is not suitable for Enrolled Nurses who are not medication endorsed, nor for Disability Care Workers, PCAs, or Aged Care Attendants. Instead, it is tailored for nurses who already hold medication endorsement and need an annual refresher or CPD compliance.
By completing this course, nurses will strengthen their confidence in medication safety, enhance their ability to identify risks, and improve patient outcomes in mental health care. The interactive format ensures engagement, while the printable PDF certificate provides formal recognition of CPD achievement. At only AUD $35, this program offers an affordable, practical, and essential learning opportunity for nurses committed to maintaining high standards of care in mental health drug administration.
