This accreditated online learning module is the second installment in a 6-part series on e-Mental Health.

Module overview

This module explores the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the ways in which these ideas have been incorporated into various online treatment programs. The course uses case studies to examine the use of internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) in detail in the eMH programs myCompass and e-couch. 

At the conclusion of this module participants will be able to:

  • Explain the basic principles of the theory that underlies cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
  • List some of the mental health conditions for which CBT has been shown to be effective therapy.
  • Describe ways in which elements of CBT for depression has been translated into the online environment (i-CBT) in two Australian online treatment programs, e-couch and myCompass

    This education is suitable GPs and GP registrars who are interested in eMH and would like to know how to incorporate it into their practice.
