Introduction

Patellar tendinopathy is characterised by localised anterior pain and is related to an increase load on the knee extensor muscles. Treatment should be individualised to each patient and their activities. Current practice range from passive therapy, eccentric exercises alone, and isometric exercises. It is important as a clinician to understand the pathology and the evidence based practice for rehabilitating a person with patellar tendinopathy. The course will provide you with an overview of the pathology and different stages of tendinopathy. The clinical presentation, and the medical and physical therapy management of patellar tendinopathy will be discussed.

Aims

The course aims to provide you with information about the pathology and different stages of tendinopathy as well as the clinical presentation and evidence based treatment for patellar tendinopathy.

    This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

    Practicalities

    Hours of Learning - No deadlines are applied to this course and it can be started and completed in your own time according to your personal schedule. We expect the required elements to take around 1-2 hours depending on your schedule and learning style. Additionally there are many optional resources provided and if you choose to review these the course could take longer to complete.
