Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic skeletal disease characterised by low bone mass and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, with a consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to low impact fracture.

Anne worked for 14 years as an Osteoporosis Specialist Nurse at The Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, which led to her high level of clinical expertise in this area of health care.

At national, regional and local levels she offered specialist advice, training and education to doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Outside the NHS, Anne has been actively involved with the National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) as a Trustee (2000-2007) and Chair of NOS Allied Health Professionals Forum (1998-2008).
