Pregnancy Options Workshop

Who would benefit from this course
General Practitioners, Nurses, Allied Health Mental Health nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and other health or community workers who work with women in a range of primary care contexts
This half-day workshop is designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills to support women (and their partners where relevant) presenting with an unintended pregnancy. The focus is on reviewing the range of options available to women and the tools and strategies which support a non-directive approach to decision making. Participants will practise these skills and tools through case-based learning during the workshop. Implementation of medical termination of pregnancy in the General Practice setting will be covered. Participants will explore the referral pathways available to their patients for all options.
Participants will increase their knowledge of:
- Options for unintended pregnancy
- Strategies and tools to support non-directive decision making
- Appropriate referral information for the full range of pregnancy options

Pre-reading and related activities must be completed before attendance at the workshop. These are provided on-line to participants four weeks prior to the workshop date.
Post-workshop reflective activity must also be completed in order to qualify for the RACGP Category 1 QI&CPD points
