RCH - Practical Paediatric Program - Coeliac Disease And Reflux
- : Online
It is now clear that coeliac disease (CD) is common in children with a prevalence of 1:80–1:300. The clinical presentation has changed and the majority of children manifest non-specific or mild symptoms. Improved serological methods has increased the diagnosis of more relatively asymptomatic cases.
Prof Tony Catto-Smith discusses which populations are at risk of CD and pathogenesis, variability of severity of symptoms, appropriate serological, genetic and endoscopic testing, and interpretation of results.
In the second video, Prof Catto-Smith runs through the symptoms and differential diagnosis of reflux. Also which are the appropriate investigations for different clinical situations and therapy.
