Resuscitation Skills (BLS-CPR) for General Practice

• 2.5 Hours Educational Activity (CPR)  [Also referred to by the name BLS] - this education is mandatory for GPs
• CPD Number: 
• Basic Life Support (CPR) course specifically designed for all the practice team and all primary care settings
• Includes separate clinical components for GP and nursing staff, using practice comparable equipment 
• Based on current international best-practice, including the principles of High Performance CPR (HPCPR)
• Skills review includes CPR for all ages, basic and advanced ventilation techniques, airway adjuncts, defibrillation
• Review of practice equipment
• ​Course can be run in practices at a time that suits staff even after-hours (including weekends)
• Duration: 2-3 Hours

Learning Outcomes 
On completion of this activity participants will be able to...

• Identify and apply the steps that need to be taken in the event of a cardiac arrest patient in the general practice setting.
• Recall the appropriate methods and processes of gaining emergency assistance in the general practice setting, in the event of a cardiac arrest.
• Manage a suspected cardiac arrest including the demonstration of BLS-CPR procedures, including the delivery of effective ventilations and compressions and use of an AED on all age groups using anatomically appropriate resuscitation manikins. 
• Implement strategies in the practice to reduce the emotional impact of an emergency on individuals and the team.
