STI management in general practice: Key features
- : Sydney NSW 2000
The past decade has seen rates of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and HIV increase in Australia. This education module looks at how to discuss sexual practice, STI and HIV risk with an aim to increasing STI and HIV testing in practices. A wide range of case studies also examine ways of approaching STI and HIV testing and treatment and promoting safe sexual practice using the NSW STIPU STI Testing Tool.
By completing this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Apply contemporary STI management and practical strategies to increase STI testing among ‘at risk’ patient groups.
- Identify which patients groups are at high risk of STIs and are priorities for testing.
- Offer STI testing to asymptomatic young people 29 years as a part of routine care.
- Understand different methods and approaches to STI contact tracing.
This activity is sponsored by NSW STI Programs Unit.
