Professional growth for nurses across Australia is essential if you want your staff to provide the highest standard of care to patients. While there are many areas of medicine nurses need to be up to date on, the treatment of trauma injuries is one of the most fluid and changing departments of a hospital. With constant updates in treatment procedures, diagnostics and understanding, enrolling your nursing team into one of our trauma courses or seminars is an important step in ensuring patient care is kept at the highest possible standard.
Available across Australia our trauma courses and seminars are a great way to keep the knowledge in your hospital at the cutting edge of medical theory.
The ECT4Health Trauma Fundamentals Seminar is a two-day course with a comprehensive coverage of physiology, assessment and management of the patient presenting with trauma. This program is designed for Emergency Department nurses or those in rural, remote or acute care facilities who may be involved in the assessment and management of traumatic injuries.
The content starts with basic cellular overview, oxygen delivery to tissue, nursing assessment, epidemiology of trauma in Australia, shock, burns and trauma to different systems. Differences in the physiology of special populations e.g. children, elderly and pregnant women with be discussed in the context of severe injury and shock.
At the completion of this seminar, nurses will have an updated approach to assessment, fluid resuscitation and shock management. Whilst the program is basic in its content and will not replace robust study, it serves as an outstanding introduction for the nurse new to emergency, trauma care and rural/remote nursing.
This program attracts 12 CPD appropriate for general nurses and those holding Endorsements as NP or RIPRN. CPD for Paramedics is offered in this program.
Note: This program is theoretical. There are no practical workshops associated with this seminar
