Learning objective
- Modify ultrasound system controls to attain basic practical proficiency in image optimisation
- Describe the sonographic characteristics of muscle, tendon, ligament, bursa and bone. Describe basic injection techniques and demonstrate needling skills (through experience gained on ultrasound phantoms)
- Demonstrate basic practical proficiency in performing first trimester sonographic examinations
- Discuss and describe normal development, viability and pregnancy loss criteria. Describe the sonographic assessment of pain and bleeding in the first trimester
- Discuss the clinical role, practical applications and limitations of ultrasound assessment in the first trimester
