Vision course
This session will look at the management of common eye conditions as well as long-sightedness and squint. It also covers the warning signs when urgent action is needed. Please note that this is a more advanced session.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify common eye diseases in childhood
- Explain the management and impact of squints and refractive errors
- Describe the impact of colour vision problems
- Recognise presentation and impact of visual field defects
This session uses self assessments that help you check what you have learnt. You do not have to use them and your answers are not seen by anyone else.
As a graduate of both the International Medical University Malaysia and the University of Glasgow Medical School, she has had more than 10 years of experience in delivering grassroots rural health education as well as formal post graduate ophthalmic teaching in the UK and abroad.
Jonathan has a special interest in innovation and teaching in healthcare and has worked on a broad range of projects. These have included a national publication of quality improvement projects, full immersion simulation for junior doctors and a website to locate the nearest eye casualty from a given London postcode.
Christopher is the visiting Professor to Middlesex University, Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to St Mary’s and Central Middlesex Hospitals, London. He has special interests in cataract surgery, strabismus (paediatric and adult squint) and paediatric phthalmology, plus Botulinum toxin treatment for squint. Christopher was trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital, GOSH and Western Eye Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, international member of The American Academy Of Ophthalmology and council member of the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology section.
