Wound Care Education for the Health and Care Workforce | The foot at risk
Overview
This session builds on the Essentials of the foot at risk session to enable Tier 2 level knowledge and skills set out in the National Wound Care Workforce Framework for England.
It will introduce you to the 'at-risk foot' and explain how to assess the foot and identify foot disease complications. This session will also help you to recognise how to treat these complications.
For the purpose of this learning session, the foot is from below the ankle.
This session will be of benefit to health and care practitioners working in settings where there are people with or at risk of lower limb wounds.
Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes and content of the session have been developed for Level 5 study.
By the end of the session, you should be able to:
- define what is meant by the 'at-risk foot'
- explain the aetiology of common risk factors which can lead to a foot at risk
