154376 - Paediatric Allergy Bundle
This Paediatric Allergy Bundle of activities seeks to address some of the complex issues around paediatric allergies and clarify when it is appropriate and when it isn’t appropriate for General Practitioners (GPs) to refer children to paediatric allergists and immunologists. Given the complexity and increase in allergies and concern about anaphylaxis, education is required to appropriately equip GPs to both manage allergy cases in their practice and to know when referrals to specialists are necessary.
This Allergy Bundle is made up of four separate activities:
1. Allergic Rhinitis: Assessment and Management
2. Large Local Reactions to Insect Stings
3. Prevention of Allergic Disease and Infant Feeding Advice
4. Management of Urticaria in Paediatric Patients
CPD points are awarded when all activities are complete.
The reasons for the rise in allergic diseases are complex and not well understood. Given this, GPs are increasingly being relied upon to manage allergic diseases, advise parents accordingly and provide appropriate referrals to specialists when required. Therefore, it is important for them to know about the allergic conditions that commonly present to their practice.
