156080 - Joint and Musculoskeletal Update (JAM) 2019
Interactive and practical workshops provide attending GPs with a thorough overview of musculoskeletal disease including diagnostic and management tools as well as allied health treatment options. The day will cover muscles from top to toe, from Giant cell arteritis to pelvic floor muscle weakness facilitated by a range of specialists.Relevance to General Practice
It’s a shame that most health professionals get so little exposure to rheumatic disease even though these diseases commonly grace their treatment rooms. It’s important to understand both inflammatory disease as well as biomechanical & degenerative disease, to further appreciate their interplay. Delayed diagnoses and missed opportunities lead to failure to achieve lasting remission or to prevent recurrent, unnecessary suffering.?
The aim is to provide information about a range of common musculoskeletal issues, clinical nuggets that can be used straight away, in treatment rooms on the following Monday. The purpose is to change the lives of people with rheumatic disease to help them live and feel better. This requires an integrated approach utilising the different expertise of a variety of health professionals.
