The aim of this online interview is to provide practical tips to reduce diagnostic error and improve patient outcomes.

Diagnostic error is an important aspect to consider when making improvements to patient safety. Some would suggest that to date, diagnostic error has received relatively little attention despite the fact the incidence are relatively common. In most instances these events have minimal impact on the patient and their outcomes but in some situations the negative outcome for the patient can be significant. Practical tips to reduce error and improve patient outcomes has value to all GPs.
