Description:

Dr Nina Chad and Dr Karleen Gribble discuss preparing for an emergency with a mum, including what to pack in your evacuation kit for formula fed, breastfed and mixed fed babies.

On completion of this professional module, candidates will be able to:

• advise families and health workers to prepare for feeding infants during an emergency that threatens to interrupt essential services
• demonstrate safe infant and young child feeding practices in the context of an emergency that interrupts essential services
• understand the risks presented by distribution of free or donated infant formula

feeding - including breastfeeding, expressed breastmilk feeding, formula feeding, mixed feeding, complementary feeding

essential services - including electricity, gas, water, sewerage, telecommunications (internet)
