Course Outline:

Dental Assistants are highly sought after and enjoy a great pay rate. This Nationally Recognised qualification provides students with skills and knowledge required to work as a Dental Assistant in a Dentist’s Practice.

We provide the students with their mandatory work placement in a dental surgery through our alliance with few highly successful dental surgeries in Gold Coast. Assistance is provided to find placement if you are in other parts of Australia. The placement is 10 weeks full time. During the placement you will be doing all your practical tasks for the course as well as complete the mandatory 350 hours of placement for the unit HLTDEN015.

The course is done completely via distance other than the Work Place observation. Work place observation is a mandatory requirement for the course.

HLTWHS001        Participate in workplace health and safety

HLTDEN030        Assist the dental practitioner during medical emergencies in a

dental setting

HLTDEN028        Provide effective oral hygiene instruction to patients with an oral health treatment plan

 

Course Outcome: Each unit can also be individually completed

Students who complete this qualification can work as Dental assistants with the potential of progressing to dental practice managers. This is a highly sought after industry where there is a high demand for qualified dental assistants as every dentist requires an assistant to be able to do their job efficiently. The pay rate is also excellent especially in remote or rural areas.

There are no pre-requisites for the HLT35021 – Certificate III in Dental Assisting, However the ability to read, comprehend, discuss and analyse printed information in English and to write statements, solve basic problems and work effectively with clients, colleagues and supervisors are essential skills required to fulfil the work role.
