STI Management course for Nurses

This session gives an overview of the current management of commonly encountered sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Learning objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• 9.3.1 State how to access information about current evidence-based treatments of chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes, syphilis, warts and trichomonas vaginalis (TV)
• 9.3.2 Demonstrate understanding of testing available locally

Healthcare professionals working in primary care and sexual and reproductive health will frequently encounter patients with sexually transmitted infections, both symptomatic and asymptomatic. It is important that these patients are offered advice and support alongside clinical treatment and, where indicated, follow up.
