This session introduces the Physical Examinations video module which demonstrates how to carry out a range of focused, problem-based physical examinations in general practice.

The module is useful for GPs at all stages in their career, including those preparing for the Clinical Skills Assessment.

This session was reviewed by Khyati Bakhai and last updated in June 2018.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Recognise how these sessions encourage a focused choice of physical examination when faced with common patient presentations in primary care
  • Recognise how these sessions encourage competent examination techniques within the confines of the GP consultation
  • Recognise how these sessions encourage reflection on the findings from physical examination and how these may influence further management

This series of problem-based physical examination sessions has been designed to be used as an educational resource, both for doctors in training and for qualified general practitioners (GPs).
