This session will give an overview of the management of a pulpal exposure, different techniques which can be utilised and the materials available for the management of an exposed pulp.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Manage a pulpal exposure
  • Identify suitable materials to be used on an exposed pulp
  • Explain the difference between direct and indirect pulp cap

This session will look at the important principles involved when managing an exposed pulp in carious teeth.

Before commencing this session you should have knowledge of:

  • Caries diagnosis and management
  • Management of pulpitis

Oral Surgeon

Following graduation from the University of Birmingham, Zehra worked in general practice in the Birmingham area. She then spent a year as a restorative SHO in the Eastman Dental Hospital.

Following this, Zehra undertook an oral surgery post, with maxillofacial surgery on call commitments.

In addition to this, Zehra also treats both adult and paediatric patients with the adjunct of sedation, as a means of anxiety management.
