This session looks at the importance of time management skills and how these can help improve decision making and the health of both you and your patients.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe why time management is important
  • Outline the skills required for effective time management
  • Explain the importance of organisational skills for good time management

This session will outline how you can manage your time more effectively by defining and prioritising your goals, working with the team, and controlling your ‘paperwork’ and your appointment book. This should help reduce the risks of poor health and poor decision making which can plague the poor time manager.

Mike was a Principal in a large practice in Buckinghamshire from 1976 until 2006. Mike has worked as a trainer with Denplan since 1990, developing and delivering training courses, with particular interest in the audit and promotion of oral heath and the leadership and governance of dental practices. Mike is now also an Honorary Lecturer in Primary Dental Care at Birmingham Dental School. He is researching an MPhil on ’Measuring Success in Dental Practice’ at the
