To provide education around promoting wellness in general practice

Relevance to General Practice

The National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission has developed a set of principles for the provision of optimal healthcare in Australia.1 One of these principles recognises the need for a greater emphasis on maintaining good health by, first and foremost, promoting wellness and preventing illness.1 To highlight this principle as a key component of general practice in Australia, the Jan-Feb 2017 issue of AFP includes articles that address a range of issues considered to contribute to the ‘joy of life’. This will encourage general practitioners to take a more holistic approach in providing healthcare.
