How to Treat quiz: Rhinological emergencies

Relevance to General Practice

Rhinological complaints are a common cause of presentations to GPs and emergency departments. These complaints have multiple aetiologies and can be infectious, traumatic, iatrogenic or idiopathic in origin. Many of these rhinological processes constitute medical emergencies, and if not diagnosed and treated appropriately, can be associated with significant morbidity and even mortality. Accordingly, the knowledge and skills required to suspect, diagnose and initiate management in this heterogeneous group of conditions is paramount in clinical practice.
