This is the second module in a two part series on childhood asthma.

It focuses on the management of asthma in children. 

 

This module discusses triggers and acute exacerbations of asthma and explains common pharmacological treatment options.

It also provides an overview of the management of acute and chronic symptoms of asthma and theimportance of asthma action plans. 

 

Asthma is one of the most common chronic conditions among children worldwide. 

It is characterised by recurrent symptoms, including wheeze, shortness of breath, cough, and chest tightness, that arise as a result of inflammation and airway resistance. 

 

Asthma is associated with significant childhood morbidity causing fatigue, reduced activity levels, impaired development, and poor social interaction
