Patellofemoral Osteoarthritis: The role of the foot and ankle with Dr Narelle Wyndow

The patellofemoral (PF) joint is commonly affected by osteoarthritis (OA) yet until recently very little was known regarding its etiology or optimal non-surgical management, particularly the contribution of foot and ankle factors. This webinar will cover the structural and functional features at the hip, knee and foot and ankle that are thought to contribute to the etiology of PF OA. In addition, Narelle will discuss points relevant to the clinician with regards to how common treatment modalities such as footwear and foot orthoses influence pain, function and biomarkers of bone health in PF OA.
Presenter: Dr Narelle Wyndow
Narelle is a podiatrist in private practice in Hobart Tasmania and has combined clinical practice and research since 2002. Narelle has a Graduate Diploma of Science in Human Movement Science, a Masters of Sports Medicine, and last year completed her PhD at the University of Queensland where she is now a Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Physiotherapy. Narelle's post-doctoral research projects are targeted towards clinically embedded trials for foot and ankle osteoarthritis.
