The primary workplace is Arana Hills Medical Centre, which is located in the Arana Hills Plaza shopping centre at the corner of Patrick’s Road and Dawson Parade. The Kmart is the only one on the North West of Brisbane and this store is accompanied by a number of speciality stores and food outlets. As such, this centre is the hub of the “Hills District”, a western subdivision of Moreton Bay Council and a conurbation adjacent to Brisbane City. The Practice has been established for 39 years, but the present rooms were built in the year 2000 and expanded significantly in 2010. There is rapid growth to the north in the suburbs of Bunya and to the west in the area of Upper Kedron. The area is well supplied with recreational, educational and sporting facilities.
The health and medical facilities are ample with the choice between three pathology services, one of which is co-located as well as X-ray services in three locations within close range. In the same CBD is Arana Specialist Centre, offering podiatry, dietetic, and psychology services. The nearest hospital is North West Brisbane Private, but the St Vincent's Northside is also within an easy commute, and both Hospitals have an associated broad range of specialist services. There are five nursing homes in the region, each of high standard, (Madonna Villa, Moonah Park, two Regis facilities and Bellevue) as well as Keperra Sanctuary Retirement Village. In the same locale, the $6.2 million North West Community Health Centre at Keperra is available, incorporating a fixed location BreastScreen unit. As well as breast screening, the centre is able to offer, child health services, adult community health services, indigenous health, child and youth mental health as well as self-care haemodialysis. Allied health services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and podiatry are also provided to a limited degree.
